Our second favourite thing after Melbourne Cup Day? When the photos come back and we get to experience it all over again. Each year on the first Tuesday in November, we close our doors and take the opportunity to lean into the fashion, fun, and frivolity of Australia’s biggest race days in the company of our clients. But this year, after so much time spent in lockdown, it held extra special meaning.

This year, we celebrated in collaboration with The Stanley, the exquisite Cantonese and Chinese restaurant at Howard Smith Wharves. Nestled amongst The Stanley’s oriental-colonial interiors, we sipped on Louis Roederer and Pak Tai Mais, and nibbled on divine dim sum, Moreton Bay bugs, and perfect Peking duck. But most importantly we all got dressed up in some exceptional spring racing carnival looks.

Best Dressed awards were given; Lynsey Nicholson took our Best Dressed for the ladies, Stuart Giles took our Best Dressed Man, Sophie Turner took our Best Hat Of The Day, and Linda Williams & Mark Simmons won for the Best Dressed Couple. But honestly, everyone wowed from our personal stylists to our style-savvy clients. We noticed definite sartorial themes from joyful colours like mandarine to luxurious jewel tones such as emerald and jade. There was also a lot of fun and floral prints, and statement details like pleating, puff sleeves, and high collars. Just like the dresses, the day itself was bright, playful and festive.
